Why Your Instagram Gets Views but No Enquiries (and How to Fix It)

Views are not enquiries

A reel that crosses a few thousand views feels like a win. Then the week passes and nobody has messaged, called or filled in a form.

That is not bad luck, and it is rarely a problem with the video itself. Views measure attention. An enquiry needs attention plus three more things: the viewer understands what you sell, you ask them to do something, and there is an easy way to do it. When an account gets views but no leads, one of those is usually missing.

These are the gaps we look for first when we audit a business account.

1. Nobody can tell what you sell

The most common problem is also the simplest. The video is watchable, but it never says what the business offers.

Here is a quick test. Pause any of your videos halfway through and ask: if a stranger saw only this, would they know what you sell, who it is for, and where you work? If the answer is no, the video can earn a like but it cannot earn an enquiry.

This matters even more for paid ads. An ad video that shows a beautiful result but never names the service gives an interested person nothing to act on.

The fix: put the offer in the video, in plain words, early. "We design and build homes in Gurugram" does more than ten seconds of music over a nice shot.

2. Every video asks for nothing

Most business videos just end. The viewer was interested, the clip finished, and the next reel started playing.

If you never ask, most people will not guess what to do next. A call to action does not have to be pushy. It just has to be one clear step.

The fix: give each video exactly one action. Message us on WhatsApp, book a call, visit the link in the bio. One action per video works better than three.

3. There is no path from the video to a conversation

Suppose the video works and someone is genuinely interested. What happens next?

They tap your profile. Is the bio clear about what you do? Is there a link that works? Is there a way to reach you in one tap, such as WhatsApp or a short enquiry form? Do you reply quickly when they do?

Many accounts lose people at exactly this point. The attention was earned, then lost because the next step was missing, slow or confusing. A business with no funnel at all, no form, no follow-up and no sales process behind the content, will see views and no leads no matter how good the videos are.

The fix: walk through your own path as a stranger. Start at the video and see how many taps it takes to reach a person who can answer. Remove every step you can.

4. Boosting posts that were never meant to convert

Boosting a post is easy, so it is tempting to boost whatever did well organically. The trouble is that a post which got views was not necessarily built to produce enquiries.

Ads work when three things line up:

A clear offer in the creative. The viewer should know what is being offered without reading the caption.

The right people. A local service business should be reaching people near it, for example by targeting specific areas or PIN codes, not a broad audience that cannot buy from you.

Enough budget to learn. A very small budget can bring in a handful of leads. That is not enough data to know which video or audience is working, and a handful of unqualified leads often leads nowhere.

The fix: treat ads as a separate job from posting. Make creative with an offer, point it at a defined area, and give it enough budget to tell you something.

A ten-minute self-audit

Open your account and answer these honestly:

Offer. Do your last five videos say what you sell?

Action. Does each one end with a single, clear next step?

Profile. Can a stranger understand your business from the bio alone?

Path. Can someone reach a real person in one or two taps?

Response. Do you reply to enquiries the same day?

Ads. If you run ads, do they name the offer and target the area you serve?

Every "no" is a place where attention is leaking out before it becomes an enquiry.

What to fix first

Start with the profile and the path, because they cost nothing and affect every video you have already posted. Next, add one clear action to every video. Then put the offer into your content, and only after that spend money on ads.

If you would rather not do this alone, we build this into the content we make, with a plan for what each video says and what it asks the viewer to do. You can also see where your own account stands with the free Founder Brand Score, a two-minute quiz on presence, positioning, hooks and consistency. If you already have footage and just need it turned into publish-ready videos, we can edit it for you.
